Lawrence Batliner; Real Estate Firm Partner

Lawrence (Larry) Batliner, partner and regional sales manager with the Charles Dunn Co.’s San Fernando Valley office, has died at a Woodland Hills hospital. He was 65.

A resident of Woodland Hills, Batliner died Aug. 3 of complications of a pulmonary embolism, said Steven Dunn, a business colleague and friend.

Born in Los Angeles, Batliner graduated from Loyola High School, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received a bachelor’s degree in business from USC. He played football in high school, the Navy and college.

He was hired by the Charles Dunn Co. in 1970, specializing in sales and commercial leases in the downtown area and San Fernando Valley. In 1978, he became a partner in the company and established its San Fernando Valley regional sales office. Batliner served as the company’s regional sales manager in the Valley until his death.

Batliner was a member of the Valley Industry and Commerce Assn., International Council of Shopping Centers, the American Industrial Real Estate Assn., the Urban Land Institute, the Los Angeles Board of Realtors, the Trojan Club and the Trojan Football Alumni Club.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marie Batliner; sons John Batliner and Mark Batliner of San Diego, Steven Batliner of New York and Robert Batliner of Lancaster; daughters Jean Marie Hill of San Francisco and Judith Batliner of Washington, D.C.; brother Bill Batliner of Woodland Hills; and a grandson.

A funeral was held last week at St. Mel’s Catholic Church in Woodland Hills. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City. Pierce Brothers Moeller-Murphy Mortuary in Santa Monica handled the arrangements. Donations can be made in Batliner’s name to Child Help USA, 6463 Independence Ave., Woodland Hills 91367.
