An Oxnard man has pleaded guilty to two federal counts of bank robbery in connection with the February holdups of two Oxnard banks, an FBI spokesman has announced.

Jose Daniel Ramos, 23, entered a guilty plea in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on Monday, said Charlie J. Parsons, the FBI agent in charge of the bureau’s Los Angeles office. He is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 28.

Ramos was charged with the Feb. 12 robbery of a Security Pacific Bank branch on North Ventura Road and the Feb. 12 robbery of the Bank of A. Levy on South Victoria Avenue.

After he was identified as the suspect by Oxnard police and the FBI, Ramos was indicted May 26 by a federal grand jury, Parsons said.

Ramos was in the Ventura County Jail at the time on unrelated charges, and was ordered to stand trial in the bank robberies, said Special Agent Gary Auer, who is in charge of the FBI’s Ventura office.

Ramos could face 20 years in prison and a $5,000 fine, Parsons said.
