The American Golf Corp., which owns the David L. Baker Golf Course in Fountain Valley, is donating all greens and cart fees on Tuesday to the Boys and Girls Clubs in Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley.

“The American Golf Corporation annually gives one day of its proceeds to charities, and this year our clubs are the ones picked to benefit,” said Chris Schneider, executive director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley, which sponsors the two clubs. The golf course is at Edinger Avenue and Ward Street

Schneider said the donation will be used for the two clubs’ general operating costs. The fund drive comes at a good time, he said, because “we’ve been hit somewhat by the recession and summer is basically a down time in our fund raising.”

The two clubs are assets to Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley because they help prevent juvenile delinquency, Schneider said.

“These are positive places for kids,” he said. “It gets kids off the streets and gives them positive role models and constructive activities.”

The Boys and Girls Club in Huntington Beach is at 2309 Delaware St., and the club in Fountain Valley is at 9300 Gardenia Ave.
