HUNTINGTON BEACH : Candidate Ensures School Board Vote
- Share via
Attorney Michael Villeneuve has ensured that there will be an election in the Huntington Beach City School District, filing his nomination papers with the Registrar of Voters’ office last week.
Until the deadline last week, only Catherine McGough and Brian Rechsteiner had filed papers for two open seats on the board of trustees in the elementary school district.
Had Villeneuve not filed, McGough and Rechsteiner would have automatically been appointed to four-year terms.
An election will cost the district about $30,000, a school official said. The candidates will vie for the positions being vacated by incumbents Gary Nelson and Karen O’Bric, who chose not to seek reelection.
