TOPANGA : Roadwork to Delay Motorists in Canyon

Until the end of the month, motorists will face up to 30-minute delays on an eight-mile stretch of Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Topanga as Caltrans workers rebuild roadbed washed away during the February storms.

Construction began Monday and will continue until Aug. 31 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on a section of the state highway from Woodland Crest to a point two miles north of Pacific Coast Highway, California Department of Transportation officials said.

Traffic will be periodically stopped by flag crews and motorists can expect a delay of up to 30 minutes.

Occasional work may also be done on weekends between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The $242,000 job, being carried out by Burns Pacific Construction of Thousand Oaks, involves hauling tons of rock onto the road from the adjacent creek bed, backfilling with dirt and then repaving.
