SAN DIEGO : Miramar Firms Damaged by Fire
A two-alarm fire swept through a Miramar waterproofing company and auto body shop late Wednesday, causing an undetermined amount of damage.
Eleven fire companies fought the blaze before it was contained about 9:25 p.m.
The fire broke out at 8:10 p.m. in the offices of Magnesite Specialties Inc., a waterproofing company at 8686 Commerce Ave. The building also contains a small auto body shop, where firefighters believe the fire began.
There were no injuries, and both businesses were closed when the blaze broke out.
Art Robertson, battalion chief for the San Diego Fire Department, said firefighters would not inspect the building for a cause of the fire until early today. A hazardous-materials unit was at the scene, as well as firefighters from Miramar Naval Air Station.
Magnesite waterproofs boat decks and outdoor decks and patios.
