California / IN BRIEF : SAN FRANCISCO : BART Schedule Not a Danger, Study Says

The new faster BART train schedule presents no danger to train safety or stress to employees, according to a Public Utilities Commission report. A study of potential hazards by the PUC was prompted by charges from BART employees and union officials that the faster schedule stressed workers and aging system equipment. Union officials said they will accept the findings. BART officials said on-time passenger performance is up to 94%. The new schedule began June 22.
