Echo Park : Senior Housing Vote Delayed
After deadlocking on a proposal to build an 86-unit elderly housing project west of Elysian Park, the Los Angeles Planning Commission last week postponed further consideration.
With one member absent Thursday, the commission voted 2 to 2 on a motion to reduce the project to 54 units. Another vote is scheduled for Sept. 17.
Community members have objected to the Chinese Community Services Center Inc.’s proposal to seek a fourfold increase in the density allowed on the one-acre parcel, which they say would cause traffic problems. They asked the commission to allow only 42 units.
