One man was arrested and guns and drugs were seized in a raid in Pacoima on Wednesday, as a crackdown on San Fernando Valley street gangs continued, a Los Angeles Police Department official said.

Joe Ray Everett, 21, was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs for sale after authorities served a search warrant at a house in the 11300 block of Defoe Street, said Cmdr. Rick Dinse, assistant commanding officer of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau.

Detectives also confiscated 16 guns from the residence, including assault rifles and semiautomatic and Uzi-type weapons, Dinse said.

Four ounces of cocaine, four pounds of marijuana and $1,000 in cash were also seized in the raid, Dinse said.

During the past five weeks, the Valley Gang Task Force has served five search warrants, arrested 13 suspected gang members and confiscated 68 weapons and large quantities of narcotics, Dinse said.

The task force is composed of agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Los Angeles Police Department, the San Fernando Police Department and the Los Angeles County Probation Department, Dinse said.
