Up, Up and Away: Avery Brooks and Rene Auberjonois will be part of the new starring team for “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” the newest spinoff of the “Star Trek” franchise, Paramount Pictures announced Monday. Brooks, with “A Man Called Hawk” and “Spenser: For Hire” in his TV background, will play the commander, and Auberjonois, a Tony Award-winning actor, will be the security officer, a “shape shifter” who can turn himself into any form he desires. The show, which takes to the air in January, follows the adventures of a team of starfleet officers who command a remote alien space station.
