Marilyn Quayle

Just who does Marilyn Quayle think she is, insulting all the working mothers in America who also “love being mothers or wives” (Aug. 20)? Aside from the fact that most of us are not married to wealthy politicians and must work just to make ends meet--there are plenty of very good mothers who choose to work but are also doing a successful job of raising a family. Watching Marilyn with her empty smile giving her speech at the Republican convention, I could not stop thinking of the “Stepford Wives.”

I have had just about enough of the “family values” issue dominating this election year. Let’s give the “my family is better than your family” and the holier-than-thou attitude of the Republican Party a rest.
