BEVERLY HILLS : Bank Robber Shoots Teller, Escapes in Car

Share

A bank robber shot a teller in the arm Monday and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from a Beverly Hills branch of Wells Fargo Bank, police said.

The robber apparently shot the employee after she gave him the money, bank spokeswoman Lois Rice said. The suspect ran onto Wilshire Boulevard and made his escape in a waiting car.

The teller, whose name was not released, was in good condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Rice said. Wells Fargo, which did not have a guard on duty, plans to station an armed security officer at the branch at Wilshire and Crescent Drive as of today, Rice said.

The bank also plans to offer a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the robber. “It’s intolerable that our employees have to go through this, so we’re doing everything we can to show we mean business,” Rice said.
