BEVERLY HILLS : Preliminary Hearing Set for Menendez Brothers
A Municipal Court judge on Tuesday set Oct. 13 as a preliminary hearing date for two brothers accused of murdering their wealthy parents in the family’s Beverly Hills mansion.
Erik and Lyle Menendez, who have been held without bail since the August, 1989, shotgun killings of Jose and Kitty Menendez, appeared briefly in Beverly Hills Municipal Court for the procedural hearing.
Last week, the state Supreme Court ruled that prosecutors could not use as evidence two tapes made by the brothers’ psychotherapist in the upcoming trial.
One of the tapes contains the spoken notes of therapist Jerome Oziel, while the other is an actual therapy session in which the brothers purportedly confessed to murdering their parents out of hatred for their father.
