Unification Issue Costly

Share

Regarding the possible unification of the Oxnard Union High School District with elementary school districts, any consultant hired by the OUHSD to study the proposal will of course find a way to agree with whatever views the OUHSD has, because he wants future consulting contracts.

I therefore believe that the hiring of this consultant is a waste of money. While taxpayers have to pay for the study, they will gain no useful information from the study’s conclusion.

The OUHSD has wasted money on consultants before. Remember when the OUHSD hired a consultant to determine whether a special election should be held to vote on a bond issue to pay for an additional high school campus? The consultant concluded, after collecting his consulting fee, that a special election should be held at considerable taxpayer expense. The bond issue was defeated, which means that all of this money was wasted.

I can’t imagine why any school district that wanted to save money would want to merge with the OUHSD.
