OUTLOOK

Thompson has the fewest number of returning starters in his 11 seasons at Marina. “We’ve got one returning starter on the offensive line and had to replace the entire front four defensively,” Thompson said. “But we’ve got enough skilled players on both sides to be a real good team. I think we have scoring punch and the ability to create turnovers.” Parrish, who scored both touchdowns in a 21-13 loss to Fontana in last year’s Division I playoffs, stands out on the young team. “He’s matured so much, he’s one of our highlights,” Thompson said. “He has a chance to shine defensively.” Marvos, a good blocker, runner and receiver is described by Thompson as “the total package.” The top newcomer is outside linebacker Byers, who Thompson says is “a man among boys.” Anderson, a junior, starts at quarterback and is rated as an intelligent player who throws well and runs adequately. Ireifej is the only player on the offensive line who weighs more than 200 pounds.
