Beverly Hills : Aid for Homebound Seniors

Share

A new program for homebound senior citizens has been established by the city to help the elderly remain in their own homes as long as they are able, city officials announced Tuesday.

The free program for residents 62 and older connects senior citizens with community services they need and will be offered through Jewish Family Services, a nonprofit social services agency.

If a senior citizen needs an aide, a cleaning service, transportation or just a visitor to read to them once a week, the program can coordinate those services, said Andrea Ross of Jewish Family Services.

The non-sectarian program is open to all income levels, Ross said, but her first 10 clients have annual incomes of less than $26,000. The city program is funded for 1992-93 with a $62,000 federal grant.

Additional information about the program is available at the Jewish Family Service Pico-Robertson Multiservice Center, 8838 W. Pico Blvd., (310) 271-3306.
