Sports Arena to Show Chavez-Camacho Bout
The San Diego Sports Arena will feature Saturday’s WBC super middleweight championship bout between Julio Cesar Chavez and Hector “Macho” Camacho on its big-screen televisions.
Tickets for the Chavez-Camacho fight are $20 for the floor, $15 for lower-level and loge and $10 for terrace seats.
Live bouts return to the arena Oct. 28.
BASKETBALL
Scottie Pippen of the Chicago Bulls will play in the San Diego County Toyota Dealers All-Star Classic Thursday at the Sports Arena.
Tickets for the game, to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society, start at $10 and go up to $250.
BASEBALL
At tonight’s Padres-Reds game at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium, area police will distribute samples of a set of Padres baseball cards.
The cards, to be distributed weekly throughout the fall and winter, are in support of the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program.
Three million Padres cards will be distributed by police in San Diego, Carlsbad, Coronado, El Cajon, Escondido, La Mesa, National City, Oceanside, and as well as the sheriff’s department and the U.S. Marine Corps Provost Marshals.
The cards feature color action photos of the players and carry D.A.R.E.’s anti-drug and anti-gang messages, for children 14 and under.
