STANTON : Commercial Garbage Fees to Rise 3.2%
The City Council has unanimously approved an increase in fees for commercial waste pickup.
CR&R; Inc., which collects and processes the city’s garbage, requested a 3.2% increase, which will raise the cost of a monthly pickup of a three-cubic-yard bin from $84.88 to $87.60.
David Fahrion, vice president of CR&R;, said the increase reflects the rise in insurance rates, vehicle costs and inflation over the last two years. CR&R; last received an increase in November, 1990.
Fahrion said some apartment units use commercial bins, and will see increased fees, but residential garbage fees will remain $11.85 monthly for a 90-gallon container.
The increase was approved Tuesday by the council, which decided to meet next Tuesday at 4 p.m. to review the impact of the state budget on Stanton’s budget.
