A 31-year-old Huntington Beach man accused of fatally shooting his wife and her male companion while they sat in a pickup truck has surrendered to authorities, police said Friday.

Gary Ernest Beaudoin turned himself over to authorities at the office of his lawyer John Barnett about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, according to police. Beaudoin gave himself up about six hours after allegedly shooting his wife, Patricia, 22, and her friend Mark Forshee, 23.

According to police, the two victims had pulled to the side of the road on Bolsa Chica Street between Edinger and McFadden avenues when Beaudoin approached the truck and shot them with a 9-millimeter handgun.

Beaudoin was being held at the Huntington Beach City Jail on Friday without bail. Authorities said the Orange County district attorney’s office is expected to file charges against Beaudoin on Monday.

Police Lt. Jeff Cope said authorities are still trying to locate Beaudoin’s vehicle, which may have been involved in the shooting. Cope described the vehicle as a red 1985 Chevrolet Blazer with the California license number 1NSM379.

Barnett said Beaudoin probably would not enter a plea for about a week. He declined further comment on the case.

Meanwhile, Forshee’s neighbors said Patricia Beaudoin and her 1-year-old daughter had been moving into Forshee’s home the day of the shooting.

The driveway in the 5000 block of Dovewood Drive was filled with boxes and furniture Thursday night.
