Walnut : 1 More Try on Parking Ban

Share

After twice approving flawed versions of a measure to curtail student parking on a street adjacent to Walnut High School, the City Council made a third pass at putting the proper measure on the books last week.

The ordinance, to limit parking to one hour along a 570-foot stretch of Abogado Street during school hours, was originally approved in July. But the measure was repealed last month when it was learned that it modified the wrong city code section. The error was corrected and the ordinance again approved.

But last week, red-faced city officials were forced to resubmit the ordinance to the council after it was discovered that the one-hour time limit was inadvertently omitted from the “corrected” version.

With a minimum of comment, the council passed the amended measure. A final vote is set for the council’s Sept. 23 meeting.
