For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserymen on what to do in the garden this week:

* To keep Bermuda grass lawns green all winter, seed with perennial rye grass and top dress the lawn area with an organic material.

* As the weather cools you can lower the blade on your lawn mower.

* Plant winter blooming cyclamen now. It’s available in white, pink, rose, lavender and red.

* Plant herbs this month in a container by the kitchen door so you’ll have them handy for winter stews and soups.

* Add several inches of mulch to your garden to keep roots cool.
