NEWHALL : Deputies Say Drug Dealer Killed Man
A 23-year-old man who was killed Sunday was shot to death while standing outside a Newhall garage by a “known drug dealer,” authorities said Monday.
The victim was identified as Jeffrey Alan Day of Santa Clarita, and his assailant was identified as Raj Christopher Gupta, 29, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Irma Becerra said.
Day was killed in the 22600 block of 14th Street about 12:45 a.m. Sunday when a man approached him, shot him in the chest and then fled on foot, Becerra said. The victim was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, where he died, Becerra said.
Day and Gupta knew each other, but it was not known what led to the shooting, Becerra said. No arrests have been made, Becerra said.
