Troy Bramlett, former Monterey County superintendent of schools, will become superintendent of the Saugus Union School District on Oct. 1, school board President Marilynn K. Blaylock has announced.

Bramlett retired after serving as Monterey County’s superintendent from 1983 to 1991. Previously, he was superintendent of the Pacific Grove Unified School District in Monterey County.

After retiring, Bramlett served as an interim school superintendent in Mariposa County, Blaylock said. Bramlett’s annual salary in Saugus will be $90,000, she said.

Bramlett will succeed Chris Wilson, who resigned in April citing “irreconcilable differences” with the board after he was criticized by some district employees, board members and parents.
