COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : USC : Smith Likes Dorr’s Offensive Scheme

USC Coach Larry Smith praised the work of offensive coordinator Ray Dorr, who replaced John Matsko in that job after last season.

“We’re not so tied up with (a) control offense,” Smith said. “Our feeling is, ‘We’ve got (good) receivers and we’ve got to get the ball out to them to make big plays. They’re the guys who are going to get us in the end zone. Let’s get the ball out to them and try to spread the field.’

“Ray has done an excellent job of designing a balanced offense.”
