A Senate subcommittee said it will hold a hearing on Sept. 24 to review baseball’s antitrust exemption.
The exemption was created in 1922, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled baseball was not interstate commerce. The high court reaffirmed the decision as recently as 1972, saying Congress had the right to change the decision with legislation.
The hearing will be held by the subcommittee on competitiveness and economic opportunity of the small business committee.
