President Bush’s Economic Plan

Share

In response to “Bush Hopes to Double Economy to $10 Trillion,” Sept. 11:

President Bush’s newly articulated economic plan gives us hope for the future. By explaining the reasons for the pain that we are experiencing and focusing our attention on the goal of becoming a global trading nation, he has described the sound path we must follow to achieve economic prosperity.

Education is foremost if we are to attain a robust economy. Our schools must be changed to help our children compete in this new world. Our adults must be retrained and our entrepreneurs revitalized. To achieve this we need a nation concentrating on the future with a strong sense of mission. Government must encourage individual initiative by providing tax incentives and less regulation.

The challenge is ours, the stakes are great. President Bush comprehends where we must go and what it will take to get there. Rather than drown in our problems and discontent, let’s give him the opportunity to lead us as the great nation we are into the global world of the next century.
