WESTMINSTER : Meeting Thursday on School Shift

The Westminster School District will hold an informational meeting Thursday to discuss a proposal to close the aging Midway City Elementary School and shift its students to the more modern Hayden Elementary School, which closed in 1979.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the multipurpose room at Midway City Elementary School, 8521 Hazard Ave. There will be another informational meeting at 6 p.m. on Sept. 30 at the Hayden campus, followed by a tour of that site, district officials said.
Architects for the district have said it would be cheaper to reopen Hayden and close Midway City than to spend $2.8 million to renovate the older campus.
