Man Shot During Gunfight in Alley
One young man was shot in the back during a brief gun battle between a car’s occupants and a group of pedestrians in an alley Tuesday, police said.
The young man, whose name and age were not immediately available, was walking with the group in an alley in the 600 block of East North Street, Sgt. Randy Brydges said.
Police said the gunfire began after a carload of young men drove along the alley and opened fire on the group. Someone from the group then fired back, police said.
Police responded to the area after neighbors reported hearing eight gunshots about 3:45 p.m. but found no victim.
Officials at Anaheim Memorial Hospital called police to report they admitted a young man with a gunshot wound, Brydges said.
It was not immediately known how the victim got to the hospital, about 1 1/2 miles from the shooting.
