The Fullerton Municipal Airport will hold free safety seminars and display aircraft at an air fair Saturday.
Airport director Roland Elder said he expects as many as 50 planes, some of them owner-built, to fly in for the fair, which will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Vintage aircraft will be on display, and a blue ribbon will be tied around the plane judged to be the best.
The safety classes will be held for pilots. They will focus on weather and potential mechanical or pilot errors.
About 40 pilots who took their first solo flights from the Fullerton airport are also expected, Elder said. They will be presented with certificates and a poem written about “the thrill of a solo first,” he said.
The fair also will include exhibits by aircraft equipment vendors, the Civil Air Patrol, and the Experimental Aircraft Assn. Although the fair is intended for pilots, it is open to all flight enthusiasts, Elder said. Display areas will be roped off from the runways for safety, he said.
