Once again, Hilburn misses the point when it comes to R&B; being an essential and vital part of rock history.
He has dismissed Etta James, Ruth Brown and other rhythm-and-blues artists who have made modern music what it is today. Rock was around long before Hilburn’s obsession with Bruce Springsteen.
There is a place for all artists, with integrity, in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
