Sierra Madre : City to Improve Its Telecasts

Share

The City Council has approved the purchase of a new audiovisual system for the council chambers.

The council acknowledged that the current setup was is extremely inadequate. Television viewers receive inconsistent picture quality and poor sound levels, and the lack of a visual presentation system has prevented the council or city staff from displaying graphic materials, such as maps, pictures and data.

Features of the new, $23,608 system approved Tuesday include updated microphones and speakers that will improve audio clarity, and a multiple-cassette deck that will permit continuous recording of meetings. A video camera, projector and computer linkup will enable the city to project visual information onto a wall of the chambers and also directly into the cable feed for home TV viewers.

Community Redevelopment Agency funds will be used for the project, which is expected to be completed by early December.
