Remembering Welles: In Essaouira, Morocco, a public square has been renamed after Orson Welles, who filmed his classic “Othello” in that North African city. Crown Prince Sidi Mohammed inaugurated the square in a festival marking the 40th anniversary of the release of the movie. Welles, who died in 1985, spent four years making “Othello.” It was named best film at the Cannes festival in 1952, but flopped after its release in the United States three years later, partly because of spotty technical quality.
