Countywide : Communities Suffer Power Outages
Power outages hit eastern Simi Valley and parts of Camarillo late Monday afternoon, but electricity was restored in both cases within hours.
In Simi Valley, power to more than 1,900 Southern California Edison customers went off at 4:40 p.m. but was on again for all but 400 customers by 5:43 p.m., said Carol Larson, an Edison area manager.
Service to the remaining customers was restored by 8:07 p.m., Larson said. The outage was caused by the failure of an underground cable at Royal and Voyager avenues.
In Camarillo, 600 customers were without service for about 90 minutes starting at 5 p.m., said Mike Montoya, an Edison area manager. Most of those affected were in an industrial area near Dawson Drive and Pleasant Valley Road, he said.
The outage was caused by the failure of a piece of underground equipment, he said.
