TOPANGA : Man Killed in Head-On Collision
A motorist was killed on Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Topanga on Tuesday when he drove into oncoming traffic, hit a tractor-trailer truck and was rear-ended by another vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said.
The man, whose identity was being withheld until relatives could be notified, was taken by helicopter to UCLA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about six hours later, CHP Officer Jayne Bartholme said.
Bartholme said the driver of the truck was hospitalized for head cuts. The driver of the third car was not seriously hurt.
Bartholme said investigators did not know why the motorist crossed the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic.
