MOORPARK : Council to Review Settlements Terms

Share

The Moorpark City Council will convene in closed session at a special meeting tonight to review settlements with two of the agencies that sued the city over its redevelopment plan.

The closed session will be dedicated primarily to reviewing terms of the settlements with Ventura County and the Moorpark Unified School District, Councilman Scott Montgomery said.

The county, school district, Ventura County Community College District and Moorpark Mosquito Abatement District filed suit in 1989 against the city over their potential share of redevelopment money. Plans call for the city to spend up to $320 million over the next 45 years to rehabilitate a 1,217-acre section in central Moorpark.

The college district is the only agency that has not settled with the city on redevelopment, although Montgomery said the two sides are close to an agreement.

Tonight’s meeting, scheduled to begin in closed session at 6:15 p.m., will be held in Moorpark City Hall, 799 Moorpark Ave. The council may appear briefly in open session after the closed meeting, Montgomery said.
