Abex Aerospace to Close Oxnard Plant: Abex Aerospace Co., which closed a plant in Santa Maria earlier this year, will shut down its operations in Oxnard, eliminating about 550 jobs. The company said that, because of a dwindling aerospace market, it will close the factory where hydraulic aircraft parts are made. It said the shutdown will come sometime in the next nine to 15 months. Severance benefits and job assistance programs will be offered to affected workers, the Michigan-based corporation said in a news release. The company also plans to try to transfer some Oxnard employees to other Abex locations.
