MORTGAGE BURN: Share Our Selves, a Costa Mesa agency that provides assistance for the needy, was almost homeless itself two years ago when evicted from a community center. . . . Now in new headquarters, it’s throwing a $501-per-couple shindig Oct. 11 to pay off its $260,000 mortgage. And organizers say they are already within $10,000 of that goal. . . . “We’re spellbound,” says spokeswoman Lauri Mendenhall, adding that “burning” the mortgage will allow future donations to go directly to help the poor.
