Mathot Scores Six Goals to Break Brother’s Career Record at El Toro

Daniel Mathot broke El Toro’s school record for career goals, scoring six to lead the Chargers to a 22-0 victory over Orange in a pool play water polo match at the Villa Park High School tournament Thursday.

Mathot’s fourth goal broke the previous record of 174, held by his brother, J.P., who is now redshirting at UC Irvine. J.P. Mathot played for the Chargers in 1989 and ’90.

Daniel Mathot, a senior holeman and driver, has 177 goals for El Toro (9-0), the top-ranked team in Orange County and Division I.

El Toro goalkeeper Jason Murray had 13 saves.
