GOD BLESS BUSCH

God bless Frederick Busch (“The Writer’s Wife,” Sept. 6).
I kept waiting for him to say that his wife had died or had left him. It seems husbands only get this insight when one of these two things happen. Pity! If he does have a wife I hope she is receiving the positive fallout of this insight.
But if he does too much to see that she, too, has a life, will he still have time to write? Will future generations bemoan the fact that “His output was greatly cut when he started spending more time with his wife/family and it has been a great loss to the reading world.”
She probably realizes this and so supports him in his work and--hopefully--has a life of her own on the side.
But at least he realizes what she is going through. Not many men out there like that.
God bless him.
