MUNICH, Germany — A hat and camp bed used by Napoleon I, the French dictator who proclaimed himself emperor in 1804, will be auctioned this month, the Hermann Historica auction house said Friday.
A folding iron camp bed used by Napoleon during his military excursions through most of Europe will be offered for sale, the auction house said.
The bed bears the stamped signature of its builder, “Desouches,” and a golden replica of Napoleon’s crown.
Also available at the Oct. 16-17 auction is a black felt hat worn by Napoleon that is expected to sell for at least $25,000, the statement said.
Napoleon is said to have owned 120 such hats during his turbulent rule of France, which ended in his defeat at Waterloo in 1815.
