In response to “Rohrabacher’s ‘Wild’ ‘60s Songs Surface,” Sept. 26:

Dana Rohrabacher and I are on a first-name basis. From the late 1960s through 1980 he was one of the few leaders in the Anarcho-Libertarian movement. There were “wild-eyed” songs and “wild-eyed” parties in those days. The last time I heard him sing those songs, he was sitting on the floor singing at the 1980 Libertarian National Convention.

When I learned he was going to Washington as a wordsmith for Ronald Reagan he said, “Hey, don’t worry, Dee. I’m going to put libertarian words in Ronnie’s mouth.” Then when he ran for Congress he told me, “Dee, it’s cool. I’m going to infiltrate the GOP and gradually introduce libertarian ideas. Keep the faith.”

Well, Dana, I kept the faith; you didn’t. You’re just another statist politician who richly deserves a long vacation starting in November.
