DIAMOND BAR : Woman, Boy Badly Burned in 3-Car Freeway Crash

Share

A woman and a 4-year-old boy were badly burned in a three-car crash that closed all lanes of the eastbound Pomona Freeway in Diamond Bar for nearly three hours Wednesday.

A 1978 Cadillac driven by Nolan J. Cornett, 46, of Los Angeles stalled on the freeway near Diamond Bar Boulevard shortly before 1 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

As Cornett was standing in front of the car, a Chevrolet truck slammed into it, shoving the sedan into a Toyota pickup driven by a man who had stopped on the right shoulder to help. Cornett was unhurt, but flames engulfed the Cadillac, where Cornett’s wife, Jane, 38, and the child, Brandon Starr, were seated.

Brandon was in critical condition at County-USC Medical Center and Jane Cornett was in stable condition at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. Authorities were unclear about the relationship between the boy and the Cornetts.
