One Vote for Ban on Flights
In the story on the noise due to helicopter sightseeing flights, Nigel Turner, president of Heli-L.A., said that “his pilots try to stay over freeways and undeveloped areas while in flight.”
A few paragraphs later, the reporter said that “during a recent trip the helicopter turned east over Burbank Boulevard, then south near Van Nuys Boulevard.” That is to say, the pilot was one mile off the prescribed route--above the Ventura Freeway--and, incidentally, over my house.
If this is the best that Heli-L.A.’s pilots can do, then count me in favor of a ban on frivolous night helicopter flights.
