San Diego : Woman Hit, Killed Crossing the Street
A car hit and killed a woman walking across a four-lane San Diego street Tuesday night, a police spokesman said.
Betty Jane Taylor, 56, of San Diego was hit in the 5000 block of El Cajon Boulevard as she crossed in the middle of the block at 11:05 p.m., the spokesman said. She was taken to Mercy Hospital, where she died from her injuries two hours later, a county medical examiner spokesman said.
Taylor, a homemaker, had been returning to her home in the 4300 block of Altadena Avenue from a nearby convenience store, authorities said.
The driver of the car that hit Taylor had not been drinking, and was traveling within the speed limit, said Sgt. Alan Clark of the San Diego Police Department.
