A new public affairs show scheduled to debut today on Ventura’s public-access station will begin with a panel discussion of Ventura County’s economy.

The premiere episode of the half-hour “Ventura Today” will air at 7 p.m. on Avenue/Century Cable’s Channel 6. Guests will be Marshall Milligan, the president of Bank of A. Levy; Susan Vinson, publisher of Business Digest; Ventura County Supervisor John Flynn, and Lindsay Nielson, president of the Ventura County Taxpayer’s Assn.

The series is being produced by commercial filmmaker O.C. Jenkins in association with the Ventura Chamber of Commerce. Jenkins also serves as the show’s moderator.

A second episode on crime in the county will feature Dist. Atty. Michael D. Bradbury and editors from three of the county’s daily newspapers. It is scheduled to air at 7 p.m. Oct. 29.

The show will eventually run weekly, and negotiations have begun with other cable companies that may want to pick up the program, Jenkins said.

Jenkins, who will underwrite the show until sponsors can be recruited, said “Ventura Today” will emphasize subjects of importance to the business community. He has previously produced radio spots for the Ventura Chamber of Commerce.
