Two billboard companies are contributing $20,000 and space on their billboards to a city program that offers rewards for the arrest of graffiti vandals, Los Angeles City Councilman Hal Bernson announced Wednesday.

Patrick Media Group and Gannett Outdoor Advertising contributed $10,000 each to the city program that offers $500 rewards to any person who reports graffiti painters. Additionally, the two firms will place billboards advertising the reward program at more than two dozen locations citywide, Bernson announced at a news conference with executives of the two firms.

The contributions will replenish the city’s reward fund, which had been running low on money. In addition, another $5,000 will be contributed collectively by three smaller billboard firms, VW Martin Co., National 3-M and the Regency Co.
