NUMBER’S UP: The 714 area code officially splits in two next month. But Orange County residents are not directly affected by the new 909 area code: It’s only for Eastern L.A. County and western and central Riverside and San Bernardino counties. But Pac Bell wants you to be aware of it, since you’ll have to dial 909 to call there starting Nov. 14. . . . Over the next two weeks, all Orange County phone customers will be mailed a brochure detailing the areas affected.
