A candidates forum for the 36th and 38th Assembly districts, 17th Senate District and the Castaic Lake Water Agency is planned for 7 p.m. Monday in the City Council chambers at Santa Clarita City Hall, 23920 W. Valencia Blvd. Each candidate will have a five-minute opening statement followed by a question-and-answer period with written questions from the audience. The event is sponsored by Canyon Country and Santa Clarita chambers of commerce in addition to the Valencia Industrial Assn. Admission is free and the public is invited. The Sunland-Tujunga Business and Professional Women, USA, will host a legislative dinner Monday with the theme “Building Woman Power.” Eve Harris, chairwoman of the Sunland-Tujunga unit of the Los Angeles League of Women Voters, will be the guest speaker. Social time will begin at 7 p.m., with dinner at 7:30 p.m., at Sterlings restaurant, 8737 Fenwick St., Sunland. The cost is $12.50 per person. The League of Women Voters will present the arguments for and against the major ballot measures to the Women’s American Occupational Rehabilitation and Training, West Ridge chapter, at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the Fallbrook Mall meeting room, 6633 Fallbrook Ave., Canoga Park. The league will present a similar program at a Rotary Club of Van Nuys meeting on Wednesday at the Masonic Lodge, 14750 Sherman Way, Van Nuys. Republican senate candidate Bruce Herschensohn will speak at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Temple Aliyah, 6025 Valley Circle Blvd., Woodland Hills.
