Carey, Sagen Lead Los Alamitos Past Loara, 37-0
Los Alamitos quarterback Tim Carey threw four touchdown passes to lead the Griffins to a 37-0 Empire League victory over Loara Friday night at Glover Stadium.
Carey completed 16 of 26 passes for 366 yards. George Sagen was on the receiving end of most of Carey’s passes with 172 yards and two touchdowns in seven receptions.
Los Alamitos (6-0, 1-0 in league) quickly asserted its passing attack. On the game’s second play, Carey hit Sagen with a 74-yard scoring pass. Still in the first quarter, Carey drove the Griffins 86 yards, ending with a 15-yard scoring pass to Don Ruberio.
Loara (0-6, 0-1) found the avalanche continuing in the second quarter as a 23-yard field goal by Jeff Kolasa and a 26-yard touchdown pass to Sagen made the score 23-0 at halftime.
Griffin running back Marchant Wright had the game’s only rushing touchdown on a one-yard run and Carey threw 15 yards to Brad Melsby for the final score before leaving the game.
