ADAMS-NORMANDIE : Information Sought on Historic Homes

The second phase of an architectural survey of the Adams-Normandie area is under way and residents are being encouraged to share historical information about their homes, said the consultant conducting the survey.

Leslie Heumann told the housing and planning subcommittee of the Adams-Normandie 4321 Community Redevelopment Agency’s Project Area Committee that she has completed the first stage of the survey, after reviewing previous studies and conducting a preliminary tour of the area.

The second stage involves photographing particular houses and researching their backgrounds, she said. In the final stages, Heumann will make an inventory map and slides and evaluate the structures, including examples of late 19th-Century Queen Anne and early 20th-Century Craftsman architecture.

The CRA and the community will use the survey to make decisions about land use and historic preservation, said Heumann, an architecture historian. The survey should be done by the end of the year.
